Dehradun is beautifully snuggled between the two most sacred & mighty rivers of the country coupled with Hindu mythology, precisely the river from paradise Ganga in east & holy river the Yamuna in the west. The majestic & modish capital of Uttarakhand acquired its existing title from the indigenous languages of two dissimilar geographical locations. In the seventeenth century, Baba Ram Rai who was the firstborn child of the seventh Guru of Sikhs, Guru Har Rai, established a camp (Dera) here and "Doon" or "Dun" signify valley in native Garwali terminology.
