1. Robbers Cave—
It is said that robbers used to hide hereafter the robbery, finally when Britishers discovered the place, they named it Robbers Cave. This spot also locally called Guchhu Pani is amongst the favourite spots of Dehradun localities. The cave has some subterranean cold water spring & the water is freezingly chilly all around the year. A waterfall at the place adds more to the natural beauty of the cave. The cave is 600 meters long and at some places, water reaches up to knee-high of an adult, therefore extra care is advised for the with families kids along. 2. Sahastradhara—
"Sahastra" means thousands & "Dhara" means stream, hence the name of the place interpretation is thousands of streams of water. Its another favourite of tourists, as the spot has a natural pool. Streams of Water dripping all around from Limestone, the place is also a renowned sulphur water spring with phenomenal therapeutic properties. A dip in sulphur-rich water is energizing & exhilarating. The alluring waterfall & the surrounding beauty is serene & picturesque, adding more to the fun is ropeway installed which elevates you to a location of high magnificent panoramic scenic values. Joy Land Water Park, an amusement park in the vicinity raises you to the pinnacle of delight & recreation. 3. Lachhiwala—
The popular picnic spot Lachhiwala, located midway between Dehradun & Rishikesh, is in the Doiwala region of Dehradun. Encircled by Sal trees, provide a soothing touch with pleasing background and many artificial water pools with refreshing waters of natural river flow, is a flawless deck for jollification & fun for all age group. The heterogeneity & flourishing greenery justifies the bonafide care & supervision of the forest department. 4. Malsi Deer Park (Mini-Zoo)—
Originally it was designed to be a top spot to catch a view of Deer in its natural habitat. Spread in a large area of 250000 Sq Meter, the deers are not kept in a cage. Gazing sprinting deers in substantial numbers, under the influence of inborn freedom, is an unforgettable memory you will carry as a souvenir of your vacation & admire in time to come. The Deer Park has recently been transformed & now expended to more of a mini zoo. Besides deer & nilgai, now you can explore vast varieties of other animals too, including rabbit & peacock. Crocodile, snakes, leopards, many species of birds and other animals. Aquarium with multi-species & sizes of fishes is a pleasure to all. The place is kept naturally still is well maintained. 5. Tapkeshwar Temple—
Tapkeshwar Mahadev Mandir is believed to be a shrine dedicated to Lord Shiva and as ancient to have its references in Mahabharta. The temple is located right at the bank of a water stream & the complex possesses a cave, which is the adobe of Pandavas mentor, Guru Dronacharya.
The story behind the temple is, the cave was the home to Guru Drona & the birthplace of immortal Ashwathama. Guru Drona & his mother were so poor that they couldn't afford Ashwathama some milk. Little & hungry Ashwathama prayed to Lord Shiva to grant him some milk & almighty hearing upon such pitty call from a young boy, fulfilled the wish.
The temple and the cave is chief pilgrimage spot of Dehradun. Water drips from the ceiling on to the sacred Shivlinga & devotees believed the place to be pure & venerated. Common credence is that all those with complete devotion & belief visit this place, it is likely that Lord Shiva will bless them & the wishes of such prime devotees would be accomplished to the fullest. Adjoining sulphur water spring is curative and refreshing.
