Right at the bank of river Ganga with over 1000 rooms, it is amongst the biggest ashram of Uttarakhand. Pujya Swami Shukdevanandji Maharaj established the Parmarth Niketan in the year 1942. Although an eighty-year-old, the structure is unblemished & maintained clean. The environment inside the premises is peaceful & relaxing. The basis of Ashram is Hindu religion but it accepts people of all caste, gender & religion. The daily schedule of the ashram are activities like prayers, yoga, psychic & alternative healings, meditation, spiritual discourse and much more. The prime objective of the ashram is external fitness & internal peace.
Two alternatives to explore Parmarth Niketan. First is to have a 3 hour day visit & in course of stay at the ashram you will surely come across many holy men, saints & if lucky, a prime sage. Placed right at the bank of river Ganga, the ashram has its own Private Ghat and the spectacle of evening Ganga Aarti is ecstatic.
