Insight Into The Core Jungle-
Rajaji National Park is a consequence of amalgamations between Rajaji Wildlife Sanctuary with Chilla & Motichur wildlife sanctuaries, in the year 1983.
Rajaji National park is closed for five months a year and is open for visitors from 15th November to 15th June. Located at the foothills of the Himalayan range, spread over 800 Km, the park encapsulates around 4oo species of birds like Crested Kingfisher, Pied Hornbill, Crimson & a vast variety of migratory birds. Its rich fauna includes Wild Boar, Elephant, Rhesus Macaque, Hanuman Langur, Porcupine, Cheetal, Sambar, Goral, Nilgai. It doesn't end here the sanctuary has a wide reptile range like Python, Cobra, Krait, and the Monitor Lizard.
Rajaji National Park is also a designated tiger reserve, hence is amongst top site in the state to sight a tiger. The 800 Km wild zone has a large array of other carnivorous predators like leopard, Himalayan Black Bear, Sloth Bear, Hyena, Fox & Civet. Adding cherry to the cake are colourful Butterflies and vivid shades of small birds.
